Research in the South Pacific: How the chemistry of the rocks affects the chemistry of the vent fluids. Does this by measuring gasses and some dissolved ions found in the vent water, using a gas-tight cylinder water sampler that prevents gasses from fizzing out as the sample is brought to the surface.
