Works at: University of California, Santa Barbara Research in the South Pacific: Barry works with Jim Childress, as a lab technician. His main goal while at sea is to keep animals that are brought to the surface alive under conditions similar to those that they experience in their natural habitat (regulating the pressure, temperature and other conditions in the high-tech aquaria used to keep them alive).
