Research in the South Pacific: I am a graduate student with Chuck Fisher. I am interested in several different aspects of deep-sea ecosystems that rely on chemical energy rather than energy from the sun. For instance, the range of different animals (the biodiversity), the way that they interact with each other and their environment (community ecology) and what they eat (trophic ecology).

Bio snippet: Though growing up in landlocked Iowa, I developed my appreciation for the marine environment as a volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as a sea otter tracker and penguin caretaker.
